Healthcare professionals in Roanoke, VA have been noticing a shortage of nurses. The shortage is being caused by a combination of two factors: most nurses are over 40 and close to retirement age, and more patients having access to health care now under the Affordable Care Act.
This shortage has really benefited recent nursing school graduates, who now have their pick of jobs to take. But, the shortage is harming future nursing school students, the shortage has caused a rush of nursing school applicants, making it much more difficult to get in.
Since a big aspect of this shortage is the Affordable Care Act, it leads one to question what many politicians have been debating for years: Is Obama Care effective? And more importantly, is it a good thing or detrimental to society?
